A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to review some Rockin' Green detergent. I have used a couple different cloth diaper detergents in the past and was excited to use the famous Rockin' Green on my diapers. I heard that if I use regular detergents like "All Free and Clear", there might be buildup on my diapers that would cause them to repel and leak. I had those issues. I was excited about doing a review for Rockin' Green...I could not wait to try it! I was sent three samples to try out. {Earth, Wind and Orchids; Lavender Mint Revival; Mighty Mighty Marshmallow~all Classic Rock} Each sample pack was enough for two loads in my top loader washing machine.
There are three different formulas
Classic Rock: This is the sound that started it all. Our classic formula is great for cloth diapers and regular clothes. So use it on everything! This formula is designed for those with middle of the road water, not too soft and not too hard. When in doubt start with classic rock!
Soft Rock: This is the formula designed for the most sensitive of customers! Designed for those with soft water (or a water softener), this formula is just the right mix of gentle cleaners to get the job done with less rinsing. Available in Bare Naked Babies (unscented)only!Hard Rock This hard water formula is perfect for those that struggle with the toughest of water types! Hard Rock Remix will blow you away!
I used the Lavender Mint Revival first. What a delightful scent!!
Since I was having repelling issues, I decided to "Rock a Soak". That means to fill your washer with HOT water, add 3 tbs Rockin' Green along with the diapers and soak for 30-60 minutes. ( I soaked for 1 hour) After the soak, I ran two complete wash cycles with cold water and no detergent. My diapers came out of the washer and did not smell like pee or poo{or the detergent}. Although the Lavender Mint Renewal smelt delish, I didn't want the scent to remain on the dipes. I hung my diapers on the line to dry and popped them in the dryer for 5 minutes after they were dry to get rid of that stiff feeling.
I wasn't too surprised when I saw my diapers weren't leaking! Rockin' Green lived up to its name!!! Since I started using Rockin' Green, I have noticed a couple changes in my diapers...I haven't had any leak issues, no stink issues, and my diapers come out cleaner than before. I have had some staining occur before and after I started using Rockin' Green. I guess that is normal though. I wash diapers ever 2-3 days and that gives time for the stains to set in.
Overall, I love Rockin' Green! I love all three scents I reviewed but my favorite is definitely the "Earth, Wind and Orchids". I have already purchased a bag and it is on its way :o)
