The Peaceful Housewife Natural Cleaners *Review and Giveaway* 2 winners!

It hasn't been too long since I decided to make "greener" choices. I have gone from disposable diapers to cloth, baby wipes&toilet paper to cloth wipes, I have been recycling all our plastics, glass and aluminum, I hung our clothes to dry...but I haven't quite made the switch to Eco-friendly cleaners.

I feel like making the switch is something that NEEDS to happen. I have three little ones and I know it's not good to have toxic chemicals around.

Now, I have been wanting to make the switch for a while, but didn't know where to start. Until, I was given the opportunity to review The Peaceful Housewife Natural Cleaners e-book.

This e-book contains 30 different recipes for natural household cleaners(including pest sprays) Lets start with a cleaner no one can live with out...laundry detergent! I was eager to try this because I do at least a load of laundry a day and that means we are putting lots of chemicals into our precious earth. My only concern was..will this Eco-friendly cleaner work as well as the one we currently use.
To make this Eco-friendly Laundry Detergent, there are a few simple things needed.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Bar of Soap(I used Ivory)
  • 1 to 2 cups of Washing Soda(can be found with the detergents at the supermarket)
  • 1 to 2 cups of Borax(can also be found with the detergents at the supermarket)
Simple directions:
  • Grate soap using cheese grater or food processor(I used the cheese grater)
  • Mix in Washing Soda and Borax
  • (optional)scent with 5-10 drops of essential oil(I didn't do this)
  • Add 1-2 tbs to each load of laundry
My opinion: I was very satisfied with the cleanliness of my laundry. It smelled fresh and clean, even though I didn't add the essential oils. I put this laundry detergent to the ultimate test...hubby's work clothes. Now, I love my husband, but when he comes home from work...he is a bit stinky. I wash his clothes separate from mine and the girls clothes. His clothes came out smelling clean too! So, I have decided to {finally}make the switch to Eco-friendly laundry detergent.

I have carpet and kids...enough said. The Peaceful Housewife Natural Cleaners e-book has a recipe for carpet cleaner! There were a couple stains by the couch I really was hoping this would get out. I did exactly as the directions said to do and it lightened up the spots. I wasn't completely satisfied so I decided to give it a second run. After the second treatment the stains were gone. So the only thing I would recommend when using the carpet cleaner is to repeat if you aren't satisfied with the first treatment. Anyways, this was grape soda, I think, so I wasn't expecting it to come out...but it did.
